Digifest is an event held every spring for graduating seniors to display their digital media portfolio, to share their work, network and to obtain feedback. The objective was to create an identity system that is unified and has parallel structure throughout all designs. Parallel structure is important in ID systems because it helps thread separate designs together through their art, typography and color.

I thought of all things that related to digital media and came across the quote, “digital media is the creative convergence of digital arts, science, technology, and business for human expression, communication social interaction, and communication” in the body copy of the brochure. I wanted to bring all of elements of digital media into one.

Because a digital media student has all these different subjects on their mind at all times, I pulled images to resemble the subjects and collaged them in the form of a brain inside a student’s mind. The cords coming out of the main headlock resemble all the subjects coming together and unified as one. I utilized the colors and fonts of the University of Houston identity system to make it cohesive to their other posters and designs. The sans-serif fonts and colors I chose make it assessable to read. I made sure all elements stayed the same throughout all designs, using the same fonts, colors and artwork.
